5 Common Intuitive Signals to Pay Attention To

Intuition can be an elusive concept for some, and a way of life for others. Often referred to as a "gut feeling" or a "sixth sense", intuition is our inner compass, the voice of our Soul, which guides us through life on Earth. While there is no denying the power of logic and reason, intuition is a tool that taps into deeper levels of our human consciousness, often offering insights that transcend time and space. Recognizing, interpreting, and trusting your intuitive signals will enhance your personal and spiritual growth, decision making and relationships. Here are 5 common intuitive signals you should not ignore:

1. Gut Feeling

Ever had a feeling in the pit of your stomach urging you to do something or avoid a situation? Yup, that's your gut feeling. It's that primal form of intuition that often serves as an internal alarm system, manifesting itself as a sense of knowing, excitement, dread, or warning. I'm sure you can relate to the experience of having a gut feeling, not trusting it, only to regret it later? Or perhaps you listened to your gut and avoided dire consequences? Me too.

Trusting our gut involves paying attention to these feelings and actually considering them in our decision-making process - instantly and without asking too many questions. It's our body's way of communicating something our conscious minds might not have perceived yet. Often, timing is of the essence when it comes to gut feelings.

Pay Attention When:

  • You’re faced with a decision, and your gut reacts strongly (positively or negatively).

  • You meet someone new, and your gut sends a signal about their energy or intentions (again, whether positive or negative).

  • Your body responds before your mind has a chance to analyze the situation (being in tune with your body is essential in decoding intuitive hits).

Action Steps:

  • Pause and Reflect: When your gut reacts: listen. Take a moment to acknowledge the sensation (How did it manifest in your body?)

  • Journal: If possible, write down your gut feelings in an intuition log/journal and any subsequent outcomes. This will help you recognize the patterns, how your body speaks to you, and the consequences down the road of listening - or not - to your intuition.

2. Body Sensations

Beyond the gut feeling, our intuition speaks to us in many different ways, through our psychic senses (the "clairs") and our bodily sensations. Physical sensations like tingling, chills, or goosebumps can be subtle nudges from your inner-guide. For example, when I listen to someone speak and I get chills, I know this person is speaking their truth, and their message deeply resonates with me. To me, it means: "yes, this is right". These sensations are our body's response to energies or truths that our conscious minds might overlook, or have a hard time discerning. Observing and interpreting these cues provides us with guidance and confirmation.

Pay Attention When:

  • You’re in a conversation, and your body reacts unusually (chills, hair stands up, etc).

  • You touch an object or encounter a situation and your skin prickles.

  • You feel a sudden warmth or coldness without an apparent cause.

Action Steps:

  • Scan Your Body: As I've mentioned before, being in tune with our body is important. Therefore, regularly make time to get your of your mind and check in with your body. Notice any unusual sensations and explore their context.

  • Trust the Signals: If your body reacts, honor it. Investigate further or adjust your course accordingly.

3. Synchronicities

Synchronicities are meaningful coincidences that occur in our lives, pointing us in a certain direction. A wink from the Universe, a subtle message from our Spirit Guides, these magical encounters suggest we're on the right path or promp us to pay attention. This could be repeatedly encountering the same number(s), meeting someone unexpectedly who significantly impacts your life, or stumbling upon an opportunity that feels just perfect. When synchronicities happen, they're a signal to pause and reflect on the direction and decisions of your life.

Pay Attention When:

  • You encounter repeated numbers, symbols, animals or themes.

  • Events align in a way that feels magical.

  • You cross paths with someone unexpectedly, and it feels significant.

Action Steps:

  • Be Present: To notice these synchronicities, you must be present in the moment, not dwell on the past or stress about the future.

  • Stay Curious: When they occur, don’t dismiss them. Explore their significance and consider what they might be pointing toward. You can look up the significance of the number, symbol or spirit animal and keep the part which resonates the most. Use your intuition!

  • Follow the Thread: If a pattern emerges, follow it. Play, have fun and thank your Spirit Guides for assisting you by sending these signs your way.

4. Dreams and Visions

Every day and night, our subconscious mind communicates with us through dreams and visions, Its messages may seem cryptic, as the subconscious often uses symbols, archetypes, scenarios, and feelings to convey a message. Paying attention to vivid or recurring dreams can offer insights into your deeper desires, fears, and solutions to problems. For example, when I am overwhelmed, I often dream of water, specifically violent tides and giant waves. Essentially, our dreams are like a direct line to different realms of consciousness, providing clarity that might not be accessible during waking hours - provided we remember them in the morning! Keeping a dream journal and reflecting on the emotions and themes of your dreams can help decipher these intuitive messages.

Pay Attention When:

  • You have vivid dreams that lingers upon waking.

  • Certain symbols or scenarios repeat in your dreams.

  • You wake up with a strong emotional response to a dream.

Action Steps:

  • Keep a Dream Journal: Write down your dreams as soon as you wake up. Look for recurring themes, emotions, or symbols.

  • Reflect: Consider the emotions and messages within your dreams. Reflect upon how they may hold answers you seek.

5. Emotional Resonance

Lastly, our emotions are powerful intuitive signals. When something feels right on a deep, emotional level—whether it's a decision, a relationship, or a creative endeavor—it's often a sign that it aligns with your True Self and path. This form of intuition bypasses logical analysis, instead offering a profound sense of rightness or deeper truth. If you're feeling a strong emotional pull or connection towards something, it's worth exploring further, as it may be your Soul aligning you with your path.

Pay Attention When:

  • You feel a surge of joy, excitement, or peace about a decision.

  • An opportunity aligns with your core values and purpose.

  • Your heart sings with joy when you contemplate a particular path.

Action Steps:

  • Tune In: Notice how your heart responds to different situations. Trust the emotional resonance—it’s a compass guiding you toward fulfillment.

  • Choose Alignment: When faced with choices, opt for what brings a sense of joy, expansion and truth. It’s often the path of growth and authenticity.
