22 Books about Spirituality and Intuition That Will Change Your Perception of Yourself and Life

Ahhh that exciting moment when you pick up a new book! For me, reading has been a huge part of my spiritual journey. It has opened my eyes to new possibilities, new and higher perspectives, it has given me hope and has taught me a lot. Although I know that reading a book isn't the same as experiencing something or embodying a teaching, I believe it's a phenomenal place to start.

In this day and age when we've got thousands of books available at our fingertips, it can be difficult to filter out the good from the bad. This is even more so in the spiritual realm where the topics are less...tangible (or are they!?).

The below recommendations are books that I have read on my journey. I hope some of these books make their way to you at the right time as they did for me. :) And please share in the comments below if you've read any of these or if you have others to recommend!

Books about Spirituality:

Conversations with God - Neale Donald Walsch (Book 1 only. I got to this book after many years of knowing its existence...just at the right time. I absolutely loved it and it aligned with so much that my own guides have been teaching me or that I came to understand)

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose - Eckhart Tolle (this book changed my life - for real. It was the catalyst to my awakening)

Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear - Elizabeth Gilbert (although not advertised as a spiritual book, I believe the process of creation she speaks of is highly connected to Oneness and therefore spiritual)

Paranormal: My Life in Pursuit of the Afterlife - Raymond Moody & Paul Perry (I devoured this book in a couple of days. So good and objective.)

The Old Soul's Guidebook: Who You Are, Why You're Here, & How to Navigate Life on Earth - Ainslie MacLeod (Ainslie MacLeod has such a lovely presence and compassion, this book is for all of us, whether you identify as an old soul or not)

Course in Miracles - Helen Schucman (A classic but a pretty heavy read...however the concepts and teachings are so valuable and deep, I recommend it because it has been eye-opening for me - although I haven't finished it yet)

Books on Intuition and psychic ability:

Real Magic: Ancient Wisdom, Modern Science, and a Guide to the Secret Power of the Universe - Dean Radin PhD (Ok this is for all you skeptics (and believers) out there. Scientific proof of psi phenomenon. A must read!)

Wisdom from Your Spirit Guides: A Handbook to Contact Your Soul's Greatest Teachers - James Van Praagh (includes great little visualizations/exercises to contact your Guides)

The Intuitive Heart – Accessing Inner Guidance To Raise Our Consciousness Baseline - Rollin McCraty, Ph.D. (not available in print form but the Heart Math Institute contains a vast library of both paid and free content about the science behind intuition, frequency and brain-heart coherence. Check out their website!)

Intuition: Knowing Beyond Logic - Osho (Want to know if it's your intuition, anxiety, or wishful thinking? This book will help you get in touch with that voice to understand it better)

The Ultimate Guide to Psychic Abilities: A Practical Guide to Developing Your Intuition - Karen Frazier (A lovely and easy-to-digest book that will guide you through your various psychic abilities)

Opening to Channel: How to Connect with Your Guide - Sanaya Roman & Duane Packer (An oldie but a goodie! Easy guide to connecting with your guides)

Books about psychology, motherhood, well-being, etc.

I wanted to share some books that are not about spirituality per se, but that do touch upon the topic of Who Am I? Because this topic is all-encompassing, I wanted to make it available to the readers from a different angle. Because no matter how we look at it, we all seek to understand ourselves better to relieve our suffering and increase our joy. Isn't that the whole purpose?

Becoming Whole: A Jungian Guide to Individuation - Bud Harris (Jung was, in a lot of ways, my gateway to spirituality. This book speaks about individuation, which is the process of Becoming your True Self. Absolutely loved it - very easy to digest)

Motherhood: Facing and Finding Yourself - Lisa Marchiano (In true Jungian fashion, host of This Jungian Life Podcast, Lisa Marchiano paints a realistic picture of motherhood unlike what you've read in other books through personal anecdotes and myth.)

Eastern Body, Western Mind: Psychology and the Chakra System As a Path to the Self - Anodea Judith (This is such a complete and comprehensive guide. I wish I had read this in my psychology classes in school!)

Archetypes: A Beginner's Guide to Your Inner-net - Caroline Myss (Archetypes play such an important role in our psyche as well as in the collective consciousness, and Caroline Myss outlines them clearly and beautifully)

How to Do the Work: Recognize Your Patterns, Heal from Your Past, and Create Your Self - Dr. Nicole LePera (whatever you have heard about LePera on social media, this book is worth a read. I experienced a lot of ah-ha moments reading it!)

I hope this list inspired you to stack your bookshelf... or head to your local library! Please feel free to share this with your circle.

Peace & Gratitude,

Alex
