How to Use Your Intuition to Connect with the Universe

Ever felt like there's more to life than what meets the eye? That there's a greater purpose or meaning waiting to be discovered? If so, you're not alone. Many of us sense that there's a connection between ourselves and the universe, but struggle to tap into it. As a result, we might feel stuck, frustrated, and helpless. That's where intuition comes in. By learning to trust and develop your intuitive abilities, you can unlock a deeper connection with the universe and gain insights that go beyond what your rational mind can grasp. In this post, we'll explore practical steps you can take to use your intuition and connect with the universe.

It's quite common for people to feel disconnected from their intuition, even though it's always there. The reason for this is simple - the constant stream of thoughts, distractions, emotional ups and downs, and overall chaos of modern life can easily overshadow the subtle guidance of our intuition. So how do you tap into it?

The Unified Field of Consciousness

Intuition and the unified field of consciousness (the Universe) are interconnected concepts. The unified field of consciousness is a theory that suggests that there is a universal field of energy that connects all living things. This field is said to be the source of all consciousness, including human consciousness. Some call it Oneness, the I AM, of the Universe.

“What we’ve discovered at the foundation of the universe is a universal field where all the forces and particles of nature are united as one. They are ripples on a single ocean of existence.” — Dr. Hagelin

Intuition can be defined as accurately knowing something without the need for conscious reasoning. It arises from a deeper level of awareness and is often described as a gut feeling or an inexplicable hunch. Intuition is also considered to be the language of the soul, and as such is connected to this unified field. Therefore, it is through our intuition that we can tap into this universal field of energy.

How do we benefit from tapping into our intuition and connecting to this field? When we use our intuition, we connect to our heart's wisdom and are able to bypass the limitations of the conscious mind (and the anxious ego). This can help us to make better decisions, solve problems more creatively, and connect with the world in a more meaningful way. By trusting our intuition and using it to guide us, we can tap into the vast resources of the Universe and experience a greater sense of connection, purpose, and fulfillment.

Tapping in

So, how can you use your intuition to connect with the universe and tap into the unified field of consciousness? Here are a few tips:

1. Remember who you are

The first step towards intuitive growth is to remember your true self. Remember that you are a spiritual being having a human experience: you are not a separate individual in a random universe. By embracing your identity as a unique and powerful Soul part of the universal consciousness, you open yourself up to receiving the information that was there all along.

2. Intention is key

When it comes to spiritual practices and intuition, intention is key. Writing down your intention can be helpful. Before going into meditation or sitting down with your journal, remind yourself of this intention. Use positive language, or a mantra, to open yourself up to receiving intuitive guidance. For example, you can say "I am open and receptive to the wisdom of the Universe and for whatever guidance my intuition brings me."

3. Clear your mind

It will come as no surprise that quieting your mind is part of this list. A mind cluttered with thoughts makes it difficult to pick up subtle intuitive signals. Any sort of meditation practice is useful to get you centered and grounded in your body. You do not have to sit in meditation for 30 minutes before tapping into your intuition, but you can if you want to. It is my belief that any activity that helps to quiet the mind can act as a meditative process. Dancing, martial arts and painting are just some examples. As with everything, practice is important, so make it a point to clear your mind as often as possible: you are making space for intuitive insights to come through.

4. Ask a question

Once you've stilled your mind, formulate a clear question or issue that you want to seek insight into. For instance, you might ask "Is this the best choice for me right now?" or "What do I need to know about X situation?" Once you've asked the question, let it go. Trust that the Universe has received your question. Let go of any attachment to the outcome and allows space for intuitive insights to come through.

5. Tuning in

I like to compare this state of awareness to being home alone at night at hearing a sound. Your mind is quiet, all your senses are engaged and you are able to sense the energy in the room. Remember that intuition speaks to us via our bodies, so practice noticing the sounds, sights, and sensations around you. Without any expectations, try to tune into others, sensing their emotions, thoughts, or even energy. There is no right or wrong answer; it's a matter of fine-tuning your sensitivity so you can pick up on those signals more readily and start to recognize them for what they are.

6. Trust the message

This last piece is the most important one by far. When you notice a sensation in your body, a feeling, a twinge...accept it and tune into it. Does it feel good, or uncomfortable? Trust the message you are receiving and do not dismiss it as being a coincidence or your imagination. Similarly, if you receive an insight into an issue or problem you’ve been struggling with, trust the guidance - even when it doesn't make much sense. Trusting ourselves and our intuition is like a muscle, and you want to give yourself grace in the process of strengthening it. Just know that you are always connected to the Universe, and when your intention is in line with that belief, you are just opening the channel even more.

Keep in mind that intuition draws from a vast source of information beyond what your rational mind can comprehend, which can make it seem strange or questionable. Following your intuition requires a lot of trust and faith, especially when your intellect resists it.

With practice and dedication, you can build and refine your intuitive skills. Developing intuition takes time and effort, but like any other skill, it can be mastered. If you nurture your intuition with consistency and persistence, it will grow and become a powerful source of insight and awareness in your life.
